It said the fluid contains bentonite clay and chemical additives it said can “smother aquatic life.” The Clean Air Council said photographs show, “a large plume of gray water snaking hundreds of feet into the lake.”

So, even if fracking was wildly profitable, it would be problematic at best. But, it’s not.
With oil under $25 a barrel, every barrel that comes out of the ground is a big money loser — estimates suggest fracking doesn’t break even unless oil is around $50 a barrel. In short, there’s an oil glut right now. No one wants or needs the product coming out of the fracking sites in Pennsylvania.

Fracking is a money loser under $50 a barrel — oil is hovering around $20 right now — add in the issues with groundwater contamination and new worries about radon, fracking makes no financial or public health sense. A poorly designed, built and maintained pipeline to carry said useless product is even more senseless.

"“They do not adequately inform the public of the true dangers of a possible Mariner East pipeline accident, including the likelihood of burns and fatalities prior to the time first responders could arrive,” said Boyce. “With respect to emergency communications, our emergency notification system is very good but it takes time to operate. By the time our first responders arrive at the scene of an accident, it could easily be the case that burns and fatalities already have occurred.”

"There have been significant problems over the years, both in the city of Chester with the use of incinerators, and quite honestly, there’s just been pollution in a lot of different locales that hasn’t been properly, in my view, investigated."

Dragon Pipe Diary blogger George Alexander is a vocal critic of the ME2 pipeline. He doubts the project will be completed when the company claims.
"Sunoco is telling its investors it will complete the Mariner East system in 2020. In my opinion, that is not likely," Alexander said. "In fact, 2020 will be a very tough year for Mariner East on several fronts."...
